Van Halen Rock L.A. Forum With Dress Rehearsal Concert

Van Halen played a 15-song “dress rehearsal” concert last night (Feb. 8th) at the Los Angeles Forum. The set included four songs from their new album ‘A Different Kind of Truth,’ 10 classics and a by-all-accounts amazing Eddie Van Halen guitar solo showcase.

A crowd of several thousand “family and friends” got to witness what we selfishly hope was a truncated version of the shows that will cross the continent beginning Feb. 18 in Louisville, Ky. (Van Halen typically played well over two hours at each of the shows on their previous tour.)

Slash was among the lucky witnesses, declaring via Twitter, ‘Van Halen was killer tonight at the Forum. Eddie was brilliant. So amazing to hear / watch.” Judging from fan-shot videos like the one below, it seems a very fair review.

One noticeable change from last time out is that David Lee Roth’s got himself a Janet Jackson-style headset microphone to sing into, presumably to facilitate more dance and karate moves during each performance.
