Wow – there was a LOT of volleyball played in Choteau yesterday. We were there for all the action!
It was a mixed bag for the 1B teams, they won some, they lost some, but they seemed to be having a great time doing it.
Round 1 got underway about 9am on Friday morning with three courts of action, the matches consist of two games to 21, capped at 21 (no need to win by 2) and have a time limit of 45 minutes. Teams got one or two matches to rest between their matches.
Choteau went undefeated in the first round, downing Glasgow, Three Forks Red Lodge Conrad. Fairfield also got through the first round without much trouble, downing Manhattan, Florence-Carlton, Cut Bank and Helena Capital. Shelby got past Ennis, Missoula-Loyola and Helena High Junior Varsity, dropping one set to Broadwater. The Cowgirls of Conrad fell to Red Lodge, Three Forks, Glasgow and Manhattan Christian. Cut Bank rounded out the 1B play falling to Helena Capital Junior Varsity, Fairfield, Manhattan Christian and Florence Carlton.
The teams were re-seeded according to total point scored after the first round, some of them switched courts and we were into round 2 by 4pm.
Second round action saw Choteau defeating Broadwater, Fairfield and capping off the night with Choteau downing Missoula Loyola. Meanwhile Fairfield fell to Red Lodge, Choteau and Broadwater. Shelby lost a battle with Manhattan Christian to start round two, then also fell to Three Forks and got past Missoula Loyola. Conrad narrowly defeated Glasgow, and Ennis. Cut Bank lost a close battle with Glasgow to start off the round, then turned it around to defeat Helena High Junior Varsity and Ennis.
At the end of Friday play – Choteau was 7/0 on the tournament; Fairfield and Shelby were 4/3 each; Cut Bank was 2/5 and Conrad was 2/4.
Choteau starts the day matched with Red Lodge at 8am. Fairfield will get started with Florence Carlton at 9:15. Conrad will start Saturday with a matchup against Helena High JV at 8am, with their 10am match against the Lady Wolves of Cut Bank rounding out the last of round two. Cut Bank has only the match with Conrad remaining in round two and Shelby meets Helena Capital JV on the elementary court at 9:15.
Immediately following the 10am matches, the teams will be re-seeded based up on their total points scored in round two and we’ll be off and running again with round 3 getting started about 1045.
