Will Robert Griffin III Ever Match His Rookie Season? — Sports Survey of the Day

On Wednesday morning, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III underwent surgery to repair torn ligaments in his knee. His recovery time is expected to be six to eight months, which means he should be ready for the start of the 2013 season. But will he be the same?

RGIII burst onto the NFL scene this year with his dynamic play, leading the Redskins to the NFC East title. But his style of play seems to have gotten him pretty heavily roughed up, culminating in the Redskins-Seahawks wild-card playoff game, which Griffin had to leave in the fourth quarter.

Leaving aside whether coach Mike Shanahan should have taken him out earlier (or let him play at all), this is the second time RGIII will have surgery to repair a torn ACL. He’s young, and his body should heal well, but you have to wonder if we’ll ever see the same magic from this seeming superstar-in-the-making.
