Our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week had a game winning performance and another Championship on the mats.

Male Athlete of the Week honors go to Cut Bank So. Alex Wahl who has now won two Major Tournaments in a row, The Cut Bank Invitational and then The Choteau Classic at 138 lbs.  The win at Choteau last week helped vault the Wolves to a 2nd place team finish among nearly 30 teams entered.

The two wins came on the heels of a 2nd place finish at the CMR Holiday Tournament in December, one of the biggest all-class tournaments in the State.

Not only is Wahl winning, but he is also dominating.  Every one of his matches in Cut Bank and Choteau was a win by pin according to Head Coach Cody Fetters who says Wahl has lost only 3 matches all season.  He did note that Alex may face his toughest competition of the year at the Townsend Duals this weekend if he comes up against the #1 ranked B-C wrestler in the State, a 138-pounder from Three Forks.  Alex is currently ranked #2.

Our female Athlete was a little tougher decision as there were several big performances in Wrestling and Basketball.  The nod, however, goes to CJI 8th grader Brynn Kammerzell.   Kammerzell led the Lady Hawks with 18 points on 7-13 shooting from the field, had 9 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots.  She also shot the game-clinching free throws and ended it all with a rebound.

Kammerzell also led the Hawks with 14 points Sat. night in a loss to Big Sandy. CJI Head Coach Jordan Miller said Kammerzell works extremely hard and puts in a lot of time in the gym.  She says the play we designed was to get her the ball when she was fouled.   It was a huge win for CJI in the 9C.

We also had a nomination this week for Shelby Jr. Adele Lamb, who despite two losses, led the Coyotes in scoring with 16 and 12.  We’re told that even though the Coyotes were down, by a lot in the Malta game, Adele refused to quit, continued to encourage teammates and had amazing games both offensively and defensively.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, So. Alex Wahl of Cut Bank and 8th grader Brynn Kammerzell of CJI.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank. McDonald’s honors our Athlete’s with two free value meals each.
