KSEN/K96 - Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the week, in more ways than one, led their teams to Championships in District Tournaments last weekend.

Our female Athlete of the Week led the CJI Hawks to the 9C District Championship. The Hawks only played two games, but Jr. forward-post Jayla Ramberg was prominent in both.  She scored 16 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in the 1st game and then 12-points and 12-rebounds in the Championship game win over Fort Benton.  Hawks Head Coach Jordan Miller said, "the kid worked so incredibly hard in both games," and the hard work showed some great results.

We also had nominations this week for Conrad Sr. Taylor Evans who dumped in 24 points with 12-rebounds in Conrad's upset win over Shelby in the consolation game.  We didn't receive an official nomination but i throw in, "a job very well done by Sr.'s Peyton Levine and Kodee Shaalz, who led August to the 10C District Championship.

Our Male Athlete of the Week was a huge force in Fairfield's three wins, including the Championship in the 1B District. 5'10" So. Deron Lear averaged 17 points, 4 rebounds, and three assists in the Championship game win over Cut Bank. In that Championship, with only 3-seconds left and the game tied at 42, the inbound pass went to Lear and Mike Dean had the call. The shot will remain a long-time memory, but Fairfield fans may remember that Lear also stole the ball prior to the time out, giving the Eagles a chance for that final shot.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96-Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, Jr. Jayla Ramberg of CJI and So. Deron Lear of the Fairfield Eagles.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our Athlete's with two free value meals each.

KSEN encourages all Coaches, parents, fans, and even teammates to nominate an Athlete of the Week when you feel they have had an above-average performance.  E-mail: markdaniels@townsquaremedia.com.
