KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athlete's of the Week include a National Champion and a High School Girls Basketball player who gives her team a calming effect.

Our female Athlete of the Week is Fairfield Sr. Guard Emma Schenk.  When you speak of a calming effect, it just means teammates have an overall confidence in someone in control and holding things together. Eagles Head Coach Travis Schenk says Emma is out front on the full court press and the half-court defense, and by the way, "I thought she played tremendous defense in the 4 games of the Divisional Tournament.  She is also the Eagles point guard and runs the show on offense. In the 4 games of the Tournament, Schenk Averaged 13-points, 4 rebounds (at just 5-5), 4 assists and 4 steals.  Maybe the biggest and best number was her 23-28 from the free throw line. Fairfield will obviously miss the play of Sr. Emma Schenk when they hit the gym next season.

Our Male Athlete of The Week is a unique choice and I guess you could say makes Athlete of the Week History by being the youngest Athlete of the Week ever and our first ever National Champion. We did delay this for a couple of weeks while we got thru the Basketball and Wrestling season, but now is the time to honor 7-year old Kanin Johnson of Conrad.  On Feb. 3rd in Las Vegas, Kanin became a National Punt, Pass & Kick Champion in the 6-7 year old division.

The competition, which has been around for more than 50-years has advanced to include, not only punt, pass and kick, but also a 40-yard dash, (which he ran at 7.3 seconds) and a Broad Jump.  Kanin finished 1st in his division in the punt, pass and 40-yard dash, was 2nd in kicking and 3rd in Broad Jump.   With combined points of the events, he won the National Championship. Kanin is the son of Colby Johnson and Casey Rasmussen.  He is a State Little Guy Wrestling Champion and a skilled young baseball player as well.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athlete's of the week, Sr. Emma Schenk of Fairfield and Kanin Johnson of Conrad.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our Athlete's with two free value meals each. KSEN encourages Coaches, fans, parents and even teammates to nominate an Athlete of the Week when you feel they have had an above-average performance.
