TEAMS THAT WIN DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS AND FOOTBALL PLAYOFF GAMES ALWAYS HAVE A GREAT TEAM EFFORT BUT THERE’S ALSO USUALLY A COUPLE OF STANDOUT PERFORMANCES AND THUS OUR “ATHLETE’S OF THE WEEK”

SUCH WAS THE CASE WITH THE CHOTEAU BULLDOGS, A CONSISTENT FRONT RUNNER IN THE 1B WHO CLAIMED YET ANOTHER DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP OVER FAIRFIELD 3-0. CHOTEAU JR. EMMA GUNDERSON LED THE WAY WITH 11 KILLS AND 13 DIGS IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH AND HAS BEEN A SOLID PART OF THE TEAM EFFORT ALL SEASON LONG. THE LADY BULLDOGS HAVE LOST ONLY ONE MATCH ALL SEASON.

EMMA IS A HUSTLER WHO NEVER TAKES A PLAY OFF. SHE CURRENTLY LEADS THE TEAM IN DIGS AND KILLS AND BECOMES THE TEAM SETTER WHEN CHRISTINE FUNK GOES INTO THE BACK ROW.

OUR MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HAS HAD NUMEROUS BIG GAMES FOR THE SHELBY COYOTES AND ALONG WITH A GREAT TEAM EFFORT, PROBABLY NONE BIGGER THAN IN THE COYOTES 1ST ROUND PLAYOFF WIN OVER ALBERTON/SUPERIOR.

JR. AIDAN TORGERSON LED THE COYOTE GROUND GAME WITH 20 CARRIES, 126 YARDS AND 2 TOUCHDOWNS. THERE WERE A COUPLE OF TIME CONSUMING DRIVES IN THE 2ND HALF WHERE HE CARRIED THE BALL ALMOST EVERY DOWN.

SHELBY HEAD COACH MIKE WHITE SAYS HE’S THE GUY WE TURN TO WHEN WE NEED TOUGH YARDS INSIDE THE TACKLES. HE ALSO NOTED HE’S A “HARD WORKER, AND DEDICATED TO THE GAME AND HIS TEAM.”

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR KSEN/K96—BOZEMAN TROPHY ATHLETE’S OF THE WEEK, JR. AIDAN TORGERSON OF SHELBY AND JR. EMMA GUNDERSON OF CHOTEAU. THE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK IS SPONSORED LOCALLY BY McDONALD’S IN CUT BANK. McDONALD’S HONORS OUR ATHLETE’S WITH TWO FREE VALUE MEALS EACH.
