KSEN/K96 Bozeman Trophy athletes of the week are playing big roles in keeping their teams on the winning track almost exclusively this year.

Our female athlete of the week is contributing to a team that has lost only once this season and Valier head coach Michelle Beck says sophomore Hannah Monroe has been as solid as they come. Monroe is scoring plenty with a twenty-point game earlier in the year and then 24 against Sunburst Friday night, but Valier is a talented bunch with numerous scoring threats. Coach Beck says when Hannah is being double teamed, which is most of the time, that creates even more opportunity for those other scorers. Monroe is also averaging eight rebounds per game on a team that is now ten and one. Coach Beck says she has a great attitude, always comes to play, always wants to play at both ends of the court.

Our male athlete of the week just finished off what Coach Jordan Ratliff called “a great week of basketball”. Six-foot three junior Kaelob Flores is Fairfield’s equalizer in the post he can score and plays a hard-nosed defense even against taller players. In three games last week, Flores scored twenty against class A Havre, nineteen against Great Falls Central and he had his best game with 21 as Fairfield upset top-ranked Shelby, top-ranked in the 1B district. Flores was also and outstanding starter on the Eagles Football team.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96 Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, sophomore Hanna Monroe of Valier and junior Kaelob Flores of Fairfield. The athlete of the week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank. McDonald’s honors our athletes with two free value meals each.
