More nominations for our KSEN/K96-- Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week than we've ever seen in a single week. With no less than 8 nominations for very deserving performances from Female Athlete's, the ultimate best performance came from North Toole County Refiner Claire Bucklin.

Bucklin, who was named our KSEN -- Bozeman Trophy Co- Athlete of the Year last week, out-did herself at the 10C District Track meet.  She entered 5 events, and she won 5 events for a team 50-points.  The most dramatic was the win in the 100m Hurdles where she broke the district record and is the defending State Champion in that event. Claire also won the 100m, the 200m, the 300 m Hurdles and the Long Jump.  It was only slightly better than Conrad's Taylor Evans who won the 100, 200 and 400 in the 1B District meet and also finished 2nd in the Long Jump and Triple Jump for 46 of Conrad's 72 points. Other nominees included Jayla Ramberg, Brie Mattson -who placed in 5 events, and Brynn Kammerzell, all from CJI.  Also, Brinlee Tatsey, a Jr. High runner from Heart Butte, Jaycee Luse of Cut Bank and Abigail Barrett of Augusta who scored 30 points for the Elks and won her 4th District Championship in the Discus.

Our Male Co-Athletes of the Week, in my opinion were too close to call.  The honors go to Shelby Sr. Randon Richman and CJI Jr. Benedikt Syrbe, a German exchange student. Syrbe didn't win quite as many events as Richman, but he won the 100m and 200m in dramatic fashion, breaking 9cDistrict records that were set by Kevin Walker of Hays-Lodgepole in 2004.   He also finished 3rd in the 400 and ran on the CJI relay team that won the 400 and was 2nd in the 1600. Randon Richman, who will run track at Carroll College, won the 200 and 400m at the 1B District meet and was 2nd in the 100m.  He also anchored the Shelby relay teams which won both the 400 and 1600. We also had nominations for CJI's distance runner Cooper Streit who won the 1600 and the 3200 at the 9C meet, and Fr. Rusch Yeager of Choteau who was 1st in the 1600m.

Congratulations to our KSEN/k96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of Week, Sr. Claire Bucklin of Sunburst and Co-Athletes of the week, Randon Richman of Shelby and Jr. Ben Syrbe of CJI.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our Athlete's with two free value meals each.
