Athletes of the Week
OUR KSEN/K96—BOZEMAN TROPHY ATHLETE’S OF THE WEEK DIDN’T WIN MULTIPLE EVENTS AT THE STATE B TRACK MEET BUT THEY PUT TOGETHER STELLAR PERFORMANCES IN THEIR SPECIALTY EVENTS.
OUR FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK, JR. DAKOTA MANECKE (MAN-A-KEY) OF CUT BANK, CLEARED 10-FT. 6-IN THE POLE VAULT LAST WEEKEND TO FINISH SECOND. DAKOTA HAS CONTINUALLY ADVANCED IN THAT EVENT SINCE SHE WAS A FRESHMAN AND STILL HAS ONE MORE YEAR TO JUMP TO THE TOP SPOT. IN ADDITION TO THE SECOND PLACE FINISH, DAKOTA HAS SET A NEW STANDARD HERE IN THE 1B DISTRICT AND THE NORTHERN DIVISION. WHILE DAKOTA DIDN’T OFFICIALLY BREAK THE RECORD FOR THE DISTRICT BECAUSE SHE DIDN’T GO 10-6 AT THE DISTRICT MEET. SHE HAD ALREADY DONE THAT AN EARLIER MEET. BUT SHE DID BREAK THE DISTRICT’S BEST VAULT AT 10-FOOT BY ELLE ZWERNEMAN OF CHOTEAU. WITH DAKOTA’S 10-6 AT THE STATE LEVEL SHE’S JUST ONE NOTCH AWAY FROM THIS YEAR’S WINNING VAULT OF 11-FEET BY KAMRYN SCULLY OF DEER LODGE.
MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONORS GO TO THE AREA’S ONLY BOYS STATE CHAMPION, SR. DAWSON ALLEN OF FAIRFIELD. ALLEN TOOK THE TOP SPOT IN THE JAVELIN WITH A THROW OF 177-FEET. WHILE WE THINK THAT ALLEN WOULD HAVE BEEN A CONTENDER IN NUMEROUS EVENTS HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR INJURIES, HE STILL MADE THE BEST OF WHAT HE WAS ABLE TO DO AND WON THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. ALLEN IS PLANNING ON ATTENDING SCHOOL AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MONTANA AND PURSUING A DEGREE IN EXERCISE SCIENCE.
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR FINAL KSEN/K96—BOZEMAN TROPHY ATHLETE’S OF THE WEEK FOR THE SEASON…JR. DAKOTA MANECKE (MAN-A-KEY) OF CUT BANK AND SR. DAWSON ALLEN OF FAIRFIELD. THE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK IS SPONSORED LOCALLY BY McDonald's IN CUT BANK. McDonald's HONORS OUR ATHLETE’S WITH TWO FREE VALUE MEALS EACH.
