Chinese Women In Butte
It's Montana History tonight (Tuesday) up at the Marias Heritage Center here in Shelby. This evening I'll be reading about Rose Hum Lee & Butte's Chinese Women in the early 20th century. Annie Hanshew wrote this segment & it's in the book we're currently reading at the Heritage, "Beyond Schoolmarms and Madams; Montana Women's Stories," from the Montana Historical Society down in Helena. We're about half way through the book & it's been a one GREAT read for all of us. See you tonight at 6 o'clock SHARP for more Montana History at the Heritage. This evening should prove to be a "learning experience" for me too...about the only thing I know about the Chinese comes from the Monty Python tune, "I Like Chinese!." I might suggest to the head honcho up there, Judy Richman, that she serve "Chinese" for the Tuesday evening meal at the Heritage as a great "tie in" to go along with my reading tonight.
