WEST GLACIER, MT. – National Park Service Intermountain Regional Director Sue Masica announced today the selection of Edward L. DesRosier, dba Sun Tours, as the concessioner for interpretive motor vehicle tours highlighting American Indian culture in Glacier National Park. The new 10-year concession contract is anticipated to commence January 1, 2018.

Sun Tours is a Montana based business located on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation, and recognized as a chartered Blackfeet owned business. Sun Tours is owned, and operated by Edward L. Des Rosier, an enrolled member of the Blackfeet Tribe. Edward DesRosier has 25 years of experience providing interpretive motor vehicle tours highlighting American Indian culture in Glacier National Park.

Concessioners fill a vital role in helping the NPS carry out its mission by operating publicly owned facilities, and offering high-quality commercial visitor services at reasonable prices. The NPS Intermountain Region solicited proposals for this business opportunity from January 12, 2017 through March 8, 2017.

Proposals are evaluated, and selected under the provisions of the 1998 Concessions Management Improvement Act by a panel of NPS representatives outside of Glacier National Park. The Act made a number of changes to how concession contracts are awarded with the intent of ensuring quality visitor services, protecting park resources, and enhancing the competitive contract process for NPS concession contracts. Additional guidelines used to evaluate proposals may be found online at www.nps.gov/commercialservices.
