Well, we lived through Black Friday in New York, I can tell you for sure that it made me appreciate being able to walk into a store, pickup the items I want and get the heck out of there. It was crowded to say the least. It was fun, but I wouldn't want to do it every year.
We didn't get up at 4am to get any great deals, but we got into the city around 10am and visited a Market in Union Square park. It was a lot of little shops with different things for sale. We bought some art work and a watch. We checked out the market in Chelsea and had some lunch - really good seafood soups:

Then we moved on to Macy's - it was INSANE:

We didn't actually talk to Santa, but we did get to see him.

We took a carriage ride in Central Park and then a quick jaunt to Gaga's Workshop at Barney's on Madison Avenue.

We had a really great day and didn't have too much trouble with the mass transit system.  Maybe we're getting the hang of it?  I doubt it - it will probably get back at us today - we're planning a trip to the Botanical gardens in the Bronx this morning!

I hope you are all enjoying your holiday!
