I almost forgot that tomorrow's (5/31) is National Dam Safety Awareness Day. In fact, FEMA Region 8, has awarded Montana $893,165 in National Dam Safety Assistance Grant Program funds to enhance our dam safety efforts! Dams are like people...they come in all shapes & sizes. In the United States, the average age of dams is 61 years. While the age of a dam isn't necessarily a direct indication of its condition, it "could" indicate that it wasn't built to today's standards. That's what this funding is all about.
