It’s Going To Be A Gas
With everyone's growing interest in the coming oil and gas development here in the Golden Triangle, a public meeting on the impacts of oil and gas development has been scheduled for this Thursday evening in Conrad from 6PM to 10PM at the Conrad High School auditorium. This timely meeting is thanks to Pondera & Teton Counties in conjunction with the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), the Department of Natural Resources (DNRC) along with city officials. The potential for rapid growth in oil and gas development has prompted questions and concerns about the impacts to our communities and the environment. There will be knowledgeable experts on hand Thursday evening to address oil and gas well development and extraction processes, protecting potable water aquifers and the regulations for creating new trailer courts and campgrounds. These experts include Tom Richmond, DNRC, Board of Oil & Gas, Billings office on hydraulic fracturing, Joe Meek, DEQ on shallow groundwater and drinking water well protection, Scott Irvin, DNRC to discuss water right permitting processes, Pam Converse, Pondera Weed Coordinator to talk about noxious weed management plans required for gravel pits, Dan Stahly, Pondera County Planner to address development regulations, and Steve Kilbreath, DEQ honing in on developing RV spaces, mobile home parks, or subdividing to provide housing. This panel will be available Thursday night for questions, comments, or discussions. I would hope that Jim Anderson from Grizzly Sports in Choteau will make an appearance because, in my opinion, he is a fountain of knowledge on what's happening on the Rocky Mountain Front. They may be rockin' out in the Bakken but we're getting ready to rock the Rockies. See you this Thursday evening at 6 in Conrad at the high school auditorium.
