Gildford Montana's Russell B. Crites that is...I'll be beginning his book this evening (Tuesday) up at the Marias Heritage Center here in Shelby for our Tuesday night Montana History at the Heritage. Russell's book is: "The Long----Awakening", & it's a Montana tale that takes place back in the late 1920's. It's all here...drinking, pool halls, barn dances, rodeos, blizzards, Indians & pow wows with plenty of desperation, tragedy & insight tossed in for good measure. The protagonist, Ray Frost, is a homesteader, who, from what I can tell, likes to enjoy a glass of the amber brew on a regular basis. The "Fearless" Frost also has a mail order bride in this deal. Looks interesting...I'll keep you posted. Looking forward to reading more Montana History at 6 o'clock SHARP tonight at the Heritage. I may bring along a six pack in order that I can relate while I'm reading & sharing "The Long---Awakening" with the Heritage Center residents tonight.
