These 13 Foods Contain A Known Carcinogen

Growing up, my parents tried to get me to eat healthy with mainly home-cooked meals with plenty of home-grown fruits and vegetables.

California Is Leading The Charge Against This Ingredient

I know there were processed foods before I was born, but boy did my generation really start to ramp up how much of them we ate. So many prepackaged foods like Fruit Roll Ups, Little Debbie snacks, and even cookies stopped being homemade as often thanks to busier lifestyles.

Turns out those products contain a synthetic food coloring known as Red 3, which gives foods a more appealing look and is banned all across the European Union (save for some cherry products) along with the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Japan, and China.

Is Red 3 Banned In Montana?

Here in America, only California has banned it; however, WashingtonNebraska, Missouri, Illinois, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, and Rhode Island have all introduced legislation to ban this color additive.

So, while Montana has yet to draft such legislation, these food products won't be sold here because the manufacturers will look to reduce the cost of production.

They won't make a product removing Red 3 to be sold only in California; instead, they'll just remove it all together and sell it across America.
