Montana’s Fitness Ranking May Surprise You

You may remember a few years back when I started what I called the “Nick Northern Transformation,” where I finally decided it was time to get myself into better shape.

During that time I learned a lot about healthy eating and exercise, and many of those habits have stuck with me. They still help me stay active and healthy today.

Staying Active Matters In Montana

Staying active becomes more important as we get older, but that does not mean you have to live in the gym.

Even simple things help. Getting off the couch and walking around the block is far better for you than sitting there scrolling through social media for hours.

Living in Montana, you might expect us to rank near the top for fitness in America. After all, we are surrounded by hiking trails, mountains, rivers, and just about every outdoor activity you can imagine.

But the reality is different.

What Is Montana's Fitness Rank?

According to the latest findings highlighted by StudyFinds, Montana is pretty much right in the middle of the pack when it comes to overall fitness.

The rankings used a study conducted by Nursa that looked at ten different factors. Those included things like the number of gyms, walking and hiking routes, and the density of fast food restaurants. Researchers also examined adult obesity and smoking rates, sleep data, physical inactivity numbers, diet tracking, exercise participation, and alcohol consumption.

That is a lot of data to sort through.

In the end, all of that research showed that Montana ranks No. 24 in the country for fitness, which puts us almost perfectly in the middle.
