FBI Warns Montana Residents About "Jugging" Trend

Whenever I hear about "trends," I think about fashion, music, or even dance trends on social media.

I never would have thought there would be crime trends, but it turns out there is one picking up enough steam so that the FBI has gotten involved.

What Is This New "Jugging" Trend?

If you are someone who does the same thing at the same time every day, you are very susceptible to falling victim to this "jugging" trend.

"Jugging" is when a criminal will follow a person for days, weeks, sometimes even months, tracking their daily activities to learn their patterns.

After running surveillance, they wait until a person withdraws money from the bank or ATM, then they'll either rob you in the parking lot or follow you to a more secluded location.

How Montanans Can Prevent Being A "Jugging" Victim

The FBI suggests that Montana residents switch up their routine to stop criminals from targeting them and make it hard to know where they're going next.

If you always stop off at the bank before heading home, start going before work, perhaps even during your lunch break.

Also, be aware of who is around you when you do visit the ATM. If you notice something out of the ordinary in a row, alert the bank or the local police department.

Finally, if you feel you are being targeted for "jugging," drive to a very busy location, or even better yet, go directly to the police department to keep yourself safe.
