Yum Brands Considers The Future Of Pizza Hut
Pizza Hut has announced plans to close about 250 stores during the first half of 2026, according to ABC News. It is not a full shutdown, but it is still a pretty big move for one of America’s most well-known pizza chains.
Pizza Hut is owned by Yum Brands, the same company behind KFC and Taco Bell, and they are reportedly considering more than just store closures. There is even talk that they could sell the Pizza Hut brand entirely.
What makes this interesting is that Pizza Hut actually opened around 1,200 new locations across 65 countries in 2025.
Sales Numbers Paint a Concerning Picture
Even with all those openings, they still ended the year with 251 fewer locations than they had in 2024 because closures happened faster than expansions.
The financial numbers are not exactly confidence-boosting either.
Rising Costs Are Changing How Americans Eat Out
Sales dropped by 5 percent at stores that had been open for at least a year. At the same time, Domino’s saw a 2.7 percent increase during the first nine months of 2025.
With the economy still feeling uncertain for a lot of people in Montana and across the country, this is not all that surprising.
Nearly 40 percent of Americans say they have eaten out less over the past year simply because of rising costs. Eating out has become a luxury for a lot of families, and restaurants are clearly feeling it.
Thankfully, we still have plenty of great local pizza joints to choose from.👇
