I imagine there is hardly a household in Montana without some sort of streaming service on their television.

In our household, we have a handful of different streaming services, and to be honest, it's hard to keep track of which ones are which.

Unfortunately, no one streaming service carries all your favorite programming.

You have to have multiple platforms to watch all your favorite shows.

Netflix Price Hike

Well, friends, one of the most popular streaming services is getting more expensive.

Shortly after Netflix reported 19 million new subscribers during the fourth quarter of 2024, they also announced another price hike.

Here's a breakdown of what Netflix will now cost you.

  • Standard account
    • 7.99 per month
  • Ad free subscriptions
    • 24.99 a month

How Much Is Too Much

Needless to say, this is not the first time Netflix has hiked its prices.

Heck, it's barely been six months since the last price increase, which was back in July 2024.

So, the question remains: at what point are streaming services no longer worth the price?

I think it's starting to get pretty close to that point.

Traditional Media

Unfortunately, we have become such an on-demand society that expects instant gratification.

This played right into the hand of digital media, which offers a quick fix to any need or want when it comes to entertainment.

There are still plenty of traditional media outlets out there that provide free programming.

It's funny because digital media platforms have the perfect tactic to lure people in.

They gave people a taste of commercial-free viewing, and as soon as they get you hooked, they began raising prices.

The bottom line is that advertising is not going away, and you'll have to pay a substantial amount of money for ad-free viewership.
