Popular Coffee Chain Removing Menu Items In Montana
News outlets nationwide have reported that the popular coffee chain Starbucks will soon be reducing its menu items.
According to recent reports, the coffee giant plans to reduce its food and beverage offerings by roughly a third by the end of this year.
It sounds like they have a method to their madness, so let's examine what we know so far.
Starbucks Earnings Call
During Starbucks's quarter-one fiscal year earnings call on January 28th, CEO Bryan Niccol announced that the company plans to downsize its menu offerings.
In the coming months, you’ll see us begin to optimize our menu offerings, resulting in roughly a 30% reduction in both beverages and food, Niccol shared.
The Starbucks CEO did not really specify as to what will be removed from the menu.
What he did say was that their goal is to streamline processes and make menu easier for both employees and customers.

Recent Changes At Starbucks
Since the new CEO has taken over Starbucks, there have been some pretty significant changes to the popular coffee chain.
- Free Refills & Return of Condiment Bars
I can't imagine too many customers will argue with this one.
Starbucks has reinstated their free refills on hot or ice brew, coffee, and tea as long as you're drinking out of a ceramic mug, glass, or personal cup.
The company has also brought back the condiment bar, allowing customers to further customize their drinks.
- Open-Door Policy
You can no longer sit and loiter at a Starbucks restaurant without making a purchase.
So if you plan on hanging out at your local Starbucks, you better buy something!
- Fewer Discounts & No More Nondairy Upcharges
More promotions and discounts have been added back into the Starbucks equation.
Also, they have removed their non-dairy up charges that were in place.
- Bye-Bye, Oleato
As part of the menu reduction, they have removed their Oleato line of olive oil-infused coffee drinks from U.S. stores.
I'm not super adventurous when it comes to coffee and have never tried one, so I don't have much of an opinion on this one.
