- Don't let pets in the kitchen: Use a baby gate to block off the kitchen, or lock your pets into safer areas of the home
- Let company know not to feed the pets: Make it clear to everyone these foods can severely injure or kill your pets, and they're off limits for the holiday
- Watch for unattended food: Keep unattended food or snacks away from your pets
- Make sure your garbage isn't easily accessible: Make sure garbage can lids are secured tightly and that food is properly disposed of. It's also a good idea to take trash out a lot during the holiday just to double down on your pet's safety.
- Have safe Thanksgiving treats for your pet: White meat turkey (no bone), plain green beans, carrots or pumpkin, frozen blueberries or a tiny portion of plain sweet potatoes. That way they can celebrate, too, and live to see Christmas.
