Student Death Reported on University of Montana Campus
A University of Montana student died in Aber Hall early Tuesday morning, September 13.
We reached out to UM Director of Strategic Communications Dave Kuntz for details and he provided this brief statement.
“Overnight we suffered a tragic loss here at the University of Montana,” began Kuntz. “A student who lived in Aber Hall passed away. There's no threat to the community and there are no immediate safety concerns for students or employees. Counselors from the Curry Health Center have been available in Aber Hall since the early hours of this morning. The university will continue to ensure that counselors and other resources are made available to any student or employee who needs it."
Once again, Kuntz emphasized that there was no ongoing threat and there are no concerns for public safety on the UM campus.

The University of Montana suffered a tragic loss overnight. A student who lived in Aber Hall passed away.
There is no threat to the community and there are no immediate safety concerns for UM students or employees.
The impact of this loss is felt by many. Counselors from UM’s Curry Health Center are available to all students and employees who wish to speak to somebody.
The University will continue to ensure counselors and other resources are available for anyone who needs those services in the coming days and weeks.
