A suspect has been arrested in connection with a threat of violence at today's Shelby High School graduation ceremony.

On Saturday, May 27,  the Shelby School District sent out a notice that it had received a "credible threat" that a shooting would occur during graduation.

Toole County Sheriff Tyler Padilla issued a press release stating that the threat was made via SnapChat message, and the threat was against a specific student. With assistance from the FBI, Padilla said investigators were able to trace the IP address and obtain a search warrant.

Sunday morning, the department sent out an updated release stating that after executing the search warrant, a juvenile male was taken into custody.

Officials believe there is no longer an immediate threat toward other students, faculty, or the public but do expect to see a large presence of law enforcement during graduation on Sunday.

Anyone with information pertaining to this threat, is asked to contact Sheriff Padilla at 406-450-4819 or Deputy Kinyon at tcsheriff12@gmail.com
