Will Kevin Garnett Be Traded To The Clippers?
Could KG be headed to Lob City? The Los Angeles Clippers are reportedly interested in Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics. Representatives of both teams allegedly talked about a potential deal for Garnett that could involve Eric Bledsoe and Caron Butler of the Clippers, The Sporting News reported. The Celtics beat the Clippers, 106-104, in Boston on Sunday.
A key force in the Celtics return to NBA prominence, Garnett, 36, still has two years and $23.5 million remaining on his contract after 2013. He also has a no-trade clause, which he would have to waive for any deal to get done.
Boston is currently 24-23, good for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The team recently lost point guard Rajon Rondo for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
The Pacific Division-leading Clippers have lost guards Chris Paul, Jamal Crawford and Chauncey Billups to injury. Garnett wouldn't help in the backcourt, but he'd give Los Angeles a formidable defensive presence against Western Conference contenders like Oklahoma City, Memphis and San Antonio.
The NBA's trade deadline is Feb. 21.
