KSEN Athlete’s of the Week from Teton County
(Undated) – Our KSEN/ K96 – Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week have been key components of their team’s success all season long, and this past week was no exception.
Power/Dutton/Brady Head Football Coach Tom Tranmer says the Sr.’s on his team, which has lost only once, are playing well together and they like each other so it’s all working really well. But with that said, the coach says, Sr. running back, receiver, linebacker, Spencer Lehnerz is “the spark.”
Lehnerz is a tremendous athlete whose quickness is key. He’s only 145-pounds but that quickness in 6-man football has him on ball carriers before they know what happened. The proof is in the numbers, for example in the Titans 4-point win over Tri-Cities, he recorded 20 tackles. In the 6-man Divisional Championship game last week against Big Sandy, Lehnerz had 8 solo tackles, 6 assists, caused a fumble and had 2 interceptions.
Oh and by the way, he plays offense too, and in the Big Sandy game had 2 “Touchdowns and 78 yards rushing with 29 receiving yards.
Our female Athlete of the Week, is a leader and mainstay on the Choteau Bulldogs Volleyball team which has won another 1B Conference Championship with an undefeated conference record.
Jr. all-around standout , Ada Bieler is always clutch under pressure and builds up the numbers in sort of a routine way. In a match against Cut Bank last week, she recorded 9 kills, 3 blocks and 14 digs. In the match against 2nd place Shelby, she had at least 10 kills. Choteau won both matches in 3 straight.
We also received a solid nomination last week for 5’-10” middle blocker Erin Schmidt described as a team leader and hard worker who had 8 kills in one of Cut Bank’s matches and numerous blocks and touches on block attempts.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athlete’s of the Week, Sr. Spencer Lehnerz of Power/Dutton/Brady, and Jr. Ada Bieler of Choteau. The Athlete of the week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank. McDonald’s honors our athlete’s with two free value meals each.
