KSEN Athlete’s of the Week were better than just good
(UNDATED) – We looked at a lot of different angles and then had to get our tiebreaking rule book out, sort of, to pick this week’s KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athlete’s of the Week
We had numerous nominations and rightfully so, with several outstanding performances in the Divisional Track & Field meets last week.
Our Male Athlete of the Week, for the 3rd time this season, racked up 30 points with wins in his specialty races and also a 2nd in the Long Jump and the 1600 Team relay. Conrad Sr. Brinkley Evans picked up victories in the 100m and the 200m with a personal best in that 200.
Evans also turned in a 2nd in the Long Jump and anchored the Cowboys 1600 relay team to a 2nd place finish.
We also had a nomination for Shelby Jr. Randon Richman who qualified for State in all 4 of his events and ended up with 24.5 points for the 2nd place Coyotes in the team standings. Cut Bank Sr. Skyler Peterson with a 3rd in the High Jump and wins in the Long Jump and Triple Jump was also a consideration.
The competition for the female Athlete of the Week was even tighter and thus we are naming Co-Athlete’s of the week. Performances by Sunburst Jr. Claire Bucklin and Conrad Jr. Taylor Evans were just plain outstanding.
Bucklin scored 42 points with wins in the 100 & 300m hurdles and the Long Jump. She picked up a 2nd in the 100m dash and a 4th in the 400m. Bucklin’s points along with teammate Nikki Nau’s 3-2nd place finishes gave the Sunburst girls 66 and a 3rd place team finish.
The other big day came from Conrad Jr. Taylor Evans who scored 40 points on the day with wins in the 100, 200, & 400m dash. She also anchored the Conrad 400 relay team to 1st place finish and then capped it all off with a 2nd in the Long Jump.
We had several nominators pushing for the historic, 1st ever brother-sister Athlete’s of the Week….Brinkley and Taylor Evans and for the most part, now we have it.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athlete’s of the Week, Sr. Brinkley Evans of Conrad and Jr. Taylor Evans of Conrad and Jr. Claire Bucklin of Sunburst. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank. McDonald’s honors our Athlete’s with two free value meals each.
