KSEN/K96 – Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week turned in big performances last week, just in front of the playoffs and the district tournament.

Male athlete of the week honors go to Fairfield junior quarterback, Ryder Meyer, who had the Shelby defense chasing him around all night long. Early in the fourth quarter they couldn't catch up with him and he went into the end zone for a 20 yard game-clincher. Meyer ended up running the ball 34 times for 205 yards and one touchdown. He was also 10 for 19 through the air for 82 yards and stopped a Shelby drive with an interception on defense. His running really was the key to victory as Fairfield remained undefeated in the Northern Division with a 13-10 win.

Also nominated this week, two Valier standouts, Tanner Vandenbos, 100 yards and three scores and Trevor Vandenbos with 55 yards and three touchdowns in the Panther's win over Power/Dutton/Brady; and Browning's Dylan Loring with over 260 yards in Browning's win over Ronan.

Our female athlete of the week appears to be peaking just before the start of the district volleyball tournaments. Sophomore, Nicole Krone has a solid match against Shelby two weeks ago and really put up some big numbers in matches against Conrad and Cut Bank. Krone is not big by any means, but she elevates really well and is slamming the ball down HARD when she gets the shot. In the Conrad match 13 kids and four of the team's seven blocks; and a like performance on Saturday against Cut Bank with 11 kills and two of the team's three blocks. Choteau won both matches in three straight games and the Bulldogs head into the district tournament this weekend, undefeated and number one in the 1B District.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96-Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the week; junior, Ryder Meyer of Fairfield and sophomore, Nicole Krone of Choteau. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our Athletes of the Week with two free value meals each..
