In his report on KSEN this (Mon.) morning, Shelby Mayor Dr. Larry Bonderud said that contracts between Cenex Harvest States and the City of Shelby have been signed.  The agreement calls for CHS  to construct a fertilizer plant on land purchased north of the Marias Fair Rodeo grounds with construction to start as early as August.

The Mayor also reported that at their last City Council meeting in May, the City Council agreed to raise landfill rates by 5-dollars per month beginning in July.   Mayor Bonderud said that the city was approximately 144-thousand dollars in the red in their landfill operating budget and thus the need for the increase.   The mayor also reported that the city has signed contracts for improvements at the Champions Park near Pizza Hut.   The contracts will initiate the allocation of a 100-thousand dollar grant to develop the Park.

In the Browning area, KSEN received a listener report at the end of last week saying that up to four people had been arrested and charged with operating a cattle rustling operation on the Blackfeet Reservation.   The listener said the operation involved people stealing calves and changing the brand and then selling them.   Our call to the Blackfeet Law enforcement agency was not returned.
