KSEN/K96 Athletes of the Week
Spring Sports are headed into the Tournament Zone and our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week are zoning in on their best efforts.
Female Athlete of the Week honors go to our first Tennis player of season. Cut Bank Coach Leah Gregg says Jr. Kaidence Schmidt "played the best tennis of her High School career," at the Libby Invitational last weekend. Her best play led to a 2nd place finish in the mainly Class "A" tournament, and Kaidence defeated 3 Class A players from Big Fork, Libby & Columbia Falls before losing a tough match in the Championship. Coach Gregg says Kaidence is a player that understands the game and knows how to win points. All three match wins were grueling 3-set matches which highlighted her strength and resilience.
We also had a very quality nomination for CJI standout So. Brie Mattson. The talented athlete won the 300m hurdles with a personal best in Malta and then bested it again to win the event at the Top 8 meet Monday night. She also finished 3rd in the Triple Jump and 200m at the Top 8.
Our Male Athlete of the Week also scored big in Malta and again at the Top 8. Fairfield So. Brodie Carper, in his premier event, won the 110m hurdles in Malta. Brodie also had a 5th in the 300m hurdles with his best time of the season, and he was 3rd in the Long Jump and won the Triple Jump with a leap of 41'6.5". He came back strong on Monday at the Top 8 meet in Great Falls finishing 3rd in the 110m hurdles and 1st place in the Triple Jump. Brodie's a hard worker and one of several up-and-coming Track and Field stars in Fairfield.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, Jr. Kaidence Schmidt of Cut Bank and So. Brodie Carper of Fairfield. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our Athlete's with two free value meals each.
