KSEN/K96 Athletes of the Week
Competition was arguably as stiff as it's been all year for our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy athlete of the Week award.
We had several quality nominations this week, especially for the girls, following Divisional Track & Tennis and State Golf. But after looking at all the data, the nod goes to Shelby So. Track star Regan Torgerson who has become a top sprinter in all of Class B and is knocking on the door of the best in all classes in the State. Last weekend, Regan won all three of her individual events...the 100m, the 200m and the 400m and also helped both Shelby relay teams qualify for State, winning the 1600m and finishing 2nd in the 400m. And just when you think it can't get any better, Reagan put up personal bests in all three individual events and the Lady Coyotes won the Divisional Team Championship for the first time in 30 years. Torgerson now has the best time in all of Class B in the 100m, 7th in the State and 2nd best in the 400m in class B and 7th best in the State.
We also had excellent nominations this week for Choteau Sr. Kylie Kovatch who won her 2nd straight Divisional Tennis Championship, leading the Bulldogs to the Team Championship and Penelope Heaton, Shelby Sr. who posted her best scores of the season with 89-89 at Marias Valley to finish 5th best in the State. The Shelby girls team finished 2nd.
Our Male Athlete of the Week was nominated last week but just missed. This week, Power/Dutton/Brady Jr. Tanner Vick gets the pick. At the Northern C Divisional meet last week, Tanner won his prime event, the 110m hurdles in a personal best time and he finished 2nd in the 300m hurdles. The real kicker though, may have been the Pole Vault where he got over the bar at 13-feet, 6-inches. The jump is the 3rd best in Class C this season, heading into the State Meet starting in Missoula Thursday. The 13'6 is also 16th best in the State, All-Class.
Other considerations for the Boys included Dane Grammar, CJI with wins in the shot put and the discus, and Saber Allen of Fairfield with wins in both hurdles, with PRs.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, So. Reagan Torgerson of Shelby, Jr. Tanner Vick, Power/Dutton/Brady Titans. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our athlete's with two free value meals each.
