KSEN/K96 Athletes of the Week
Both of our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week have led their teams to undefeated records in the young season.
The Fairfield Eagles Volleyball team is 2-0 in conference play, and they also won season opening Tournament in Shelby with numerous teams on hand. Eagles Head Coach Kari Schubarth said, "we really played tough that first weekend, but she did add, "we have some work to do but proud of how we are starting off." Our Athlete of the Week, Aubrey Schubarth has led the way. In that Shelby pre-season tournament, she had 179 assists, 26 kills and 13 aces with a lot of games played. In the 1st two conference games......57 assists, 12 kills and 7 aces. Coach Schubarth notes that Aubrey has taken on a lot of different roles in her 4-year career and this year she is back in the setter's role. The coach says, "she sees the court well and is moving the ball around great, engaging our hitters and throwing the defense off."
Our Male Athlete of the Week was nominated last week, and did have a superb opening weekend, probably better than this weekend. But there was a key factor that we thought was pretty special. Power/Dutton/Brady Sr. Tanner Vick was asked to move to Quarterback after his younger brother was injured in the opening weekend. Titans Coach Tom Tranmer said he was obviously getting acclimated to the position but still got the job done with 8-10 passing for 135 yards and 4-touchdowns and no interceptions. The fast and aggressive Sr. was his usual self on defense with 8 solo tackles, 6-7 assists and 1 interception. While it's not the ideal situation for the team, Coach Tranmer said, "Tanner's a senior leader and that's what leaders do......whatever it takes to help the team and that's what he did." We also had one other nomination for Choteau QB Cole Wood who led the Bulldogs to a lopsided win over Box Elder.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week......senior Aubrey Schubarth from Fairfield and senior Tanner Vick with Power/Dutton/Brady. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our Athlete's with two free value meals each.
