KSEN/K96 Athletes of the Week
Our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week got Conrad Wrestling Teams off to a strong start, both winning Championships at the Cascade Invitational last weekend.
Our Male Athlete of the Week put in a performance that may get him a strong consideration for a #1 ranking after he placed 2nd in the State Tournament a year ago.
Sr. Blaine Vandyke, wrestling at 138-pounds, (same as last year), rolled thru 4 matches and ended up with a pin in everyone. In his 1st match he put down his opponent in a quick 1:30, the second match in 1:50, 3rd match in 3:03 and he put Blake Hodgskiss of Choteau on his back in 4 minutes. Blaine won the quick pin award in a total of 10:24 and was also named the "outstanding Wrestler at the Tournament. His performance led Conrad to a 2nd place among 42 teams in Cascade.
Our Female Athlete of the Week also led the Conrad Cowgirls team to a 2nd place finish and at least two of her 3 wins were by pin. The first match of the Tournament a pin in just 47-seconds for Sr. McKenna Jones. Jones is a state qualifier from a year ago and finished off a very successful opening Tournament with another pin in her 2nd match and a win by technical fall in the Championship match over Choteau's Madisyn Duffner. We also had a nomination this week for CJI standout Brynn Kammerzell who had 27 points and 20 rebounds in a win over a very strong Bainville team and then 24 points and 10 rebounds against Plevna.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, Sr. Blaine Vandyke and Sr. McKenna Jones, both from Conrad.
