KSEN/K96 Athletes of the Week
Our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week are both "go-to" athletes who come thru when the pressure is on.
Last week's Fairfield win over Townsend was a prime example for our Male Athlete of the Week, Jr. Forward Deron Lear. At the half, Fairfield was up by just one point and Lear had just two points. He scored 7 in the 3rd quarter and the Eagles trailed by 8. But, thru the 4th quarter and Overtime, Deron scored 21 of Fairfield's 27 points and Fairfield remained one of only 4 teams in the state to remain undefeated. Fairfield Coach Jordan Ratliff says the Eagles always strive for a balanced scoring attack, but Lear is a player that can really turn it on. Lear ended the Townsend game with 30-points and 7 rebounds. Against Choteau last Friday he also had 30 points with 9 assists and 5 rebounds. We also had a nomination this week for Sunburst Fr. Nick Bucklin who hit five-3's and had 16 points against Simms.
Not to be outdone, our Female Athlete of the Week, had her biggest two games of the season and that's really saying something. CJI So. Brynn Kammerzell, facing one of the only teams they have lost to this season in Big Sandy, poured it on after the Hawks were down 13 at the half. She ended the night with 29 points on 11-16 from the field and 15 rebounds. With the 71-63 win, the Hawks jumped into 1st place in the 9C District. More of the same the next night as CJI won the non-conference matchup with Shelby 58-40. Kammerzell had 32 points on 14-20 from the field and 7 rebounds.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, Jr. Deron Lear of Fairfield and So. Brynn Kammerzell of CJI. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our Athlete's with two free value meals each.
