KSEN/K96 Athletes of the Week
Our KSEN/K96 -- Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week had big games, not to mention big moments, when it mattered in weekend Basketball Tournaments.
Selecting a Male Athlete of the Week was a tough choice with numerous players such as Tiegan Arnold and Cyman Tangen of Conrad. Choteau, who won the 1B District championship is talented up and down the line. So. Rusch Yeager was the leading scorer in the Championship game with 22 points, but in our opinion, no shot was bigger than this one by Choteau senior Kellen Meyer in the Semi-final win over Fairfield. That shot sent the game to overtime where Kellen Meyer hit another big three-point shot and Choteau went on to win 75-71 in overtime. Kellen had 6-3's total in that game and ended with 25 points. Saturday night Choteau beat Rocky Boy for their 1st District Championship since 2016.
Our Female Athlete of the Week also stepped up in the biggest game and Shelby Head Coach Ryan McDermott says junior Addison Richman "had a really good weekend." He noted that her overall FG-percentage was over 50-percent for the 4 games of the 1B District Tournament. Addison had 7-3's , four in the 4th quarter in the all-important loser-out Rocky Boy game Sat. morning. 26 points overall and she added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the consolation game win later that day. Coach McDermott noted that Addison also had 8 rebounds in the Rocky Boy game and guarded the oppositions' best player multiple times, in that game and the rest of the Tournament. We also had nominations this week for Cut Bank's Jaycee Luse who had 15 points with 3-3's against Shelby. We also thought worthy of a nomination, Conrad's Trinity Vandenbos who scored 18 points in the Conrad win over Cut Bank Friday. And Ella Samsal, 18 points in Sunburst's win over Heart Butte that sent them into the consolation game.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, Sr. Kellen Meyer of Choteau and Jr. Addison Richman of Shelby. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our Athletes with two free value meals each.
KSEN encourages all parents, fans & Coaches to nominate Athletes of the Week when you believe they have had an outstanding performance.
