(UNDATED) – Our KSEN/K96-Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week are dominating the competition in their individual spring sports.

Female Athlete of the Week honors go to Fairfield Sr. Emma Woods. “Dominate,” is the proper word here as she won the Divisional Class B Golf Tournament at Malta with an 80, 19 strokes ahead of 2nd place.  And that wasn’t even her best score on the Malta course where earlier this year she shot a 75 there.  She also carded a 74 earlier this year at Marias Valley for her best score of the year.

Emma is the defending State B Champion but the scores are even better than last year and Fairfield Girls Golf Coach John Bakkum says she’s gotten even better at getting over bad shots and moving on.  He also tells us that she really, “tuned in her iron game.”

In the last two years, Emma has won every tournament that she has entered.

Our male Athlete of the Week, and this may start to sound like a broken record, but he keeps doing amazing things.  Most everyone has heard that Shelby Sr. Rhett Reynolds went 6’9” in the High Jump last Friday at the Brent Hitchcock Memorial in Great Falls, but what wasn’t talked about as much was his 1st place finish in the 400m and a 5th & 7th respectively in the 200 & 100.

Add to that a 3rd place finish in the Long Jump and then a 2nd in the High Jump and an 8th in the 400m at the Archie Roe Invitational Sat. and it was an exhausting weekend.  That 6-9 High Jump on Friday is now the best mark in the State All-Class.  It also broke a longstanding Shelby School record.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96 – Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week….Sr. Emma Woods of Fairfield and Sr. Rhett Reynolds of Shelby.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s. Mcdonald’s honors our Athletes with two free value meals each.
