KSEN/K96 Bozeman Trophy Athlete of the Week
(Undated) – A number of outstanding performances in local spring sports last weekend as athletes bring out their best in District, Divisional and State meets and tournaments.
From that we have chosen our KSEN/K96 – Bozeman Trophy Athletes of Week following due deliberation.
Female Athlete of the Week honors go to Conrad’s outstanding Sophomore jumper and runner, Breauna Erickson. Erickson had a big day at the 1B District meet along with a number of other Cowgirls who led the Conrad girls to the District Championship.
Erickson’s main event , the pole vault, was the biggest story of the day. It wasn’t a personal record, but the 10’9’ vault was a District record and the girls’ best pole ever here in the golden triangle.
Erickson specializes in the jumps and she added points with a 3rd in the Long Jump and a 1st in the Triple Jump, but was also a member of the Conrad 400 relay team which took 1st in that event. So. Taylor Evans also won 3 events and the Conrad girls could vie for a high place in the upcoming Divisional and even State meet.
We also had a nomination for Makenna Burke, Cut Bank’s top softball pitcher who came away with a 3-1 record at the tournament in Cut Bank last weekend. We’re told she averaged about 14 strikeouts per game.
Male Athlete of the Week honors go to CJI Sr. Kyle Harmon. The 3-sport athlete in Chester had a big day at the 9C District meet winning the 100m with an excellent 11.5 time. He then turned around and finished a close second in the 200m. Add to that a win in theTriple Jump and a third in the Long Jump. His 34 points led CJI to a 3rd place team finish.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96 – Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, So. Breauna Erickson of Conrad and Sr. Kyle Harmon of CJI. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank. McDonald’s honors our Athletes with two free value meals each.
