LOCAL SPORTS – “ATHLETE OF THE WEEK”

(Undated) – Our KSEN/K96 –Bozeman Trophy Athlete’s of the Week are definitely playing key roles in their teams’ success this season.

Male Athlete of the Week honors go to Jr. Riley Reevis of Heart Butte.  The Warriors are off to a perfect 11-0 start and many of those victories have been by lopsided margins, 70+points in a couple of cases.

Reevis is one of the players leading the way, not only with scoring but with rebounds, steals and assists as well.  In games this week he had 20 against Valier and then 13 against Sunburst.  Heart Butte Coach Kellen Hall says in those 11 games, Riley has had 6-double-doubles and is averaging 9-rebounds and 4 assists per game.  He’s also averaging 4 steals per game.

Hall also notes that he’s pretty happy with everything that’s going on right now with his undefeated team.

Our female Athlete of the Week is as much a role model, producing big numbers, for the Power Lady Pirates.  Sr. Amara Bodkins had her biggest game of the year in a win over Valier Saturday.  She poured in 24 points off of 5-three-point shots and hit 50-percent of her shots from the floor along with 72% from the free throw line.  She also pulled down a team-high 9 rebounds.

Amara has had a couple of big games recently with 20 against Augusta and 16 against Sunburst.

Power Coach Willie Widhalm says she’s a 3-year starter on his team, a captain and one of the leaders on the floor as well as a great role model for the younger players and elementary students. Power’s win over Valier was a big one as the Lady Pirates are right behind them in the 10C Standings.

Also nominated this week, CJI Sr. Tatum Hull who had 26 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Turner.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athlete’s of the Week, Jr. Riley Reevis of Heart Butte and Sr. Amara Bodkins of Power.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank. McDonald’s honors our Athlete’s wth two free value meals each.
