(FAIRFIELD) – Our KSEN/K96 – Bozeman Trophy Athlete of the Week does a lot of things that don’t show up in the stat line but make a big difference in the team’s performance.

Fairfield Head Coach Travis Schenk says those things were evident of Sr. Alexa Johnson in the four games of the Northern B Divisional Tournament last weekend.  The Coach says “I think overall she had a really solid tournament .

Specifically on the finer points of defense, he says, it starts with attitude and aggressiveness which results in things like stopping a shot, stopping a penetration or just shifting properly in the defensive scheme of things.

With all of that said it wasn’t like she didn’t have any stats.  She led the team in steals with 3 against Harlem, 4 in the Conrad game, 3 against Cut Bank and 2 in the Glasgow game.

Johnson was also the leading scorer with 17 in the opener against Harlem and then was a solid part of the balanced scoring that Fairfield most always gets from their starting lineup.  She had another 11 against Conrad and then 8 each against Cut Bank and Glasgow.

The Eagles missed out on a trip to the State B Tournament by just two points but they ended with a solid 16-8 record and another winning season.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96 Bozeman Trophy Athlete of the Week, Sr. Alexa Johnson of Fairfield.  Our Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank.  McDonald’s honors our Athlete’s with two free value meals.
