KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week turned in exceptional performances on the football field and the volleyball court.  We appreciate the number of nominations coming in, especially for football.
We had four nominations for off the chart performances in football.  The biggest one came from Our Athlete of the Week, Sunburst Refiner Jr. Wyatt Rogers.  Sunburst had a lot of big performances in their win over St. Patrick's, but none bigger than Rogers who raced for 5 rushing Touchdowns, including a couple of short runs and then his two longest of 65 and 57 yards in the 2nd half.   He also contributed with numerous tackles on the defensive side from his Defensive End, including a couple of sacks. Some of our nominators thought that the 328 total yards that Rogers picked up on the ground may have been a school record, but we were unable to confirm that.
Nominations also came in for Conrad's Carsen Sullivan who had 249-yards rushing and 3 Touchdowns against Shelby.  We also learned something about Sullivan's academic achievements as he has near completed his associate's degree before finishing high school. Another nominee was Garrett Monroe, a Jr. running back for Valier who had 217 yards rushing and 3 Touchdowns plus a 60-yard punt return for a TD as Valier beat Alberton.  And also from Conrad, Sr. Reece Taylor who had a pick 6 and a TD rec. in the Shelby game.  He went 6-6 kicking point after Touchdowns and is now 28-30 for the season.
Our Female Athlete of the Week was described to us as "beast" on the court last week during three matches in which the CJI Hawks remained undefeated and on the top of the 10C District. MaRea Smail, a 6-2 Sr. turned in impressive stats on the front line, in all three matches.   During pink night in the Hawks gym, Smail knocked down 15 kills, 4 blocks and 5 aces.   Against Big Sandy, earlier in the week, Smail had 12 kills, 3 aces and 3 blocks.  Head Coach Jordan Miller tells us, MaRea is a great teammate with top notch individual skills. The Hawks, by the way, have not even lost a single set in matches played since Sept. 11th.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, Jr. Wyatt Rogers of Sunburst and Sr. MaRae Smail of CJI.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our Athlete's with two free value meals each. KSEN encourages nominations from parents, fans, & coaches.  E-mail: markdaniels@townsquaremedia.com
