The Cut Bank girls and the Missoula Valley Christian boys captured the team championships of the state Class B-C high school tennis tournament, held on Friday and Saturday in Missoula

Cut Bank defeated the Superior/Alberton team with a score of 45 to 34. Fairfield was third with 23. The Jefferson High girls of Boulder scored four points. Whitehall did not score any points.

Morgan McDivitt of Cut Bank was the girls’ singles champion, finishing with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Emma Wooldridge of Superior/Alberton.

Serina Hoyt of Lexi Bremer of Fairfield teamed for the doubles championship, defeating Brianna Bauer of Jillian Altenberg of Cut Bank 6-2, 6-4 in their title match.

Valley Christian’s 44 points topped the Bigfork boys by four. St. Ignatius placed third with 30 points for a westside sweep of the state tournaments boys’ trophies.

Spencer Ahlborn of St. Ignatius repeated as boys’ singles champion. He defeated Josiah Petersen of Valley Christian 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 in a very competitive state championship match.

The boys’ doubles winners were Tobin Blome and Paul Heffernan of Missoula Loyola. They beat Nate Kavanagh and Dylan Johnston of Cut Bank 6-1, 6-0 for the crown.
