This evening (Tuesday), I'll be "walking in the rain" and on my way to the Marias Hertiage Center to read some more Montana History to the residents. We begin every Tuesday evening at six in the sun room at the Heritage Center and tonight, I'll continue with the book detailing the Mann Gulch fire back in 1949. The book's called "A Great Day To Fight Fire" and it's turning into a real page turner...or should I say, BARN BURNER! This tome is the story of lost youth, broken hearts, and man's inability to conquer nature. Missoula writer Mark Matthews authored the book and Mark's a former wild land firefighter for the U.S. Forest Service and former Forestry Technician for the Lolo National Forest. I feel that everyone in my reading group, not to mention myself, is learning a great deal about this famous blaze that was responsible for killing 13  of our Montana firefighters with only three men surviving in the Mann Gulch fire.  I'm looking forward to another Tuesday evening of Montana History at our Marias Heritage Center.
