And boy, am I glad that it's BACK. Our Shelby viaduct reopened Thursday afternoon after being "half closed for repairs". No more watching 521 car freight trains pull through the crossing, stop and then decide to back up. Our viaduct was "up and running" as of about two o'clock Thursday afternoon and "business is brisk". I put through a call to Shelby mayor Dr. Larry J. Bonderud on his red hot line this afternoon and His Honor told me " repair work was completed in a timely fashion considering the extent of the damage". I think I am like a lot of locals who probably never thought one thing or another about the ol' viaduct. We all took it for granted and in a few seconds, our lives, our time schedules, our tires changed forever. The "bridge lady" down in Great Falls might love that old 10th street bridge near the refinery but I think my new found appreciation for our 'ol duct might rival her passions. All I can say is, "I'm glad you're back old girl, I'll drive above those 521 car freight trains and never think of you the same ever again.
