Not All That Much Fat
Not really much at all. While we're recognizing & celebrating the abundance provided by Montana Agriculture all this month here at KSEN & KZIN, I'll submit that whole milk is only 4.5% fat. In fact, a Montana diary cow will produce over 100 POUNDS of milk a day while the average Montanan will gulp down 400 glasses of milk every year! This makes me smile & want to say "cheese" because one day's production for a high-producing Montana dairy cow yields 10.5 POUNDS of cheese! The way I'm looking at it, there may be more than one way to skin a cat but there's a million ways to use a cow.. Hamburgers, milk, cheese, you name it. In fact, when we're filled up with cow burgers, milk & cheese, we can take the methane from their manure & convert it to combustible fuel for the generators that produce electricity for our Golden Triangle farms! The theme for this year's National Ag Day IS "Agriculture: Food for Life" but I've come up with another one..."The Montana Cow: Food for Life & a lot of other stuff too...
