POPLAR, Mont. (AP) — One person was taken into custody and authorities were searching for additional people for questioning in the death of a 1-year-old girl abducted from her home on a Montana Indian reservation. The Roosevelt County Sheriff's Office says Kenzley Olson was found dead in Poplar, on Fort Peck Indian Reservation, after she was last seen Tuesday.

Accoring to KRTV News - the FBI has assumed the case:

At about 2:20 p.m. on Wedneday, the Roosevelt County Sheriff's Office announced that Kenzley's body had been found: "We are very sorry to announce Kenzley has been found deceased in Poplar. Officers are on scene investigating and one subject is in custody."

The identity of the person in custody has not yet been released.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now investigating, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Lee Almer, Roosevelt County Sheriff's Office spokesman, explained why it took nearly 13 hours to issue the AMBER alert: ”The important thing about an AMBER Alert is that the correct information gets out to the public. It took some time to find good information to put out there about the abduction; there is not a reason to release information prior to having some solid evidence of what is going on.”
