Railroad Merger In The Valley

Back in October of 1960, there were "solid rumors" over in Whitefish of a merger of the Great Northern with the Northern Pacific & Chicago, Burlington & Quincy. We'll be reading the "Story-Behind-The-Story" on that merger tonight (Tuesday) during Montana History up at the Marias Heritage Center. We're rapidly coming to the end of our current read, "Stump Town to Ski Town: The Story of Whitefish, Montana." I'm looking forward to seeing you this evening at 6 to share more Montana History at the Heritage. By the way, as for that "merger," it NEVER happened until March of 1970!
