After a discouraging weekend, our softball teams get right back on the field in Conrad. Cut Bank will play the Cowgirls this afternoon at 4:30, while Shelby and Conrad will battle at 3:30 tomorrow afternoon, with a JV game to follow. It's not going to be rainy and windy, so get out and cheer on your team...

Because of last night's rains, the Conrad Invitational softball tournament has effectively been washed out. I'm told the Stillwater team made it just a few miles out of Columbus before they turned back. Glasgow did make it here, though, and because our local teams need to get conference games played with the Scotties, Shelby has agreed to host games today on their relatively dry field...

The Conrad Invitational softball tournament is this weekend, and sure enough, the forecast says rain and snow possible with highs in the 40s. Nobody's surprised.  This is such a good tournament, well run at a great facility, and I can only remember one or two years when they had two days of pretty good weather...

When I saw Meadowlark Lemon's name on one of my birthday sources today, I admit I had to double-check my source to make sure "The Crown Prince of Basketball" was still around! Not only is he still alive, he is an ordained minister, and he still plays basketball with a team he owns...

From my plate of nachos next to my recliner, my congratulations to all the area participants in the Ice Breaker road race in Great Falls Sunday. By my quick count, over 400 Northern Montanans took part in the one mile race (139 area runners), the three mile race (208), and the five mile race (75)...

The city of Lethbridge is holding a children's festival at the Exhibition Park this Saturday, and they were nice enough to give us a few family ticket packages! The festival runs Saturday from 10 to 6. Barney the Dinosaur will be there, along with a petting zoo and over 80 exhibitors and game playing areas...

The Independent Observer let us know last week that our Tri-County Cardinals manager and Conrad girls' basketball coach and teacher Tyler Bucklin is running today in the Boston Marathon. You can follow his progress! I checked the Boston Athletic Association website, and they have a place where you can search runners by name and get their results...

We just got word from Great Falls that they have had to cancel today's GFH/CMR JV track meet. Runners, jumpers and throwers hope the field areas dry out enough for the Fairfield Invitational meet also scheduled for Memorial Stadium Saturday...
