It happened again! If you watched the Oscars Sunday night and/or read about them, it was the usual. One of the "special people" (you know, the ones we  idolize and supposed to look up to), "let slip" with vulgar language. This is nothing new, has been going on since language was invented, and is becoming more and more prevalent in today's society. This time it was Melissa Leo who played the tough mother in "The Fighter". These people apparently have the ability to memorize bazillions  of lines, do numerous public appearances, and work successfully at a somewhat difficult craft. Yet, whether it be Cher, Bono, or in this case, an actress who had just won an Oscar for supporting actress, these people, in my opinion, have no manners and no class. No wonder the language many of our young people use  these days is atrocious. And anymore, the women in our society, talk as poorly as the men. What gets me is that these people who should be "used" to appearing in public always manage to utter a profanity on national television or public media. I have always believed and still do that those who swear and use vulgar language don't have the proper vocabulary and/or language skills or even the education and proper upbringing. Most all of us slip on occasion but these "Hollywood" folks should have the professionalism not to. Sometimes I think they do it on purpose for "shock value" alone. How else do you explain how someone has the ability to memorize hours and hours and lines and lines of a movie script but are apparently at a loss for words in accepting an award and making a two minute speech. That said, I thought "The Fighter" was an okay movie but I thought it went way overboard on swearing and profanity. I came away thinking that much of it was put in only for the sake of swearing/profanity and nothing else. Sure, I'm a big "Sopranos" fan and I can appreciate that the mob and/or those in the boxing profession talk tough but there's a limit and I thought "The Fighter" far exceeded that limit for no good purpose. We wonder why the younger generation has such garbage mouths but look at the garbage coming out of Hollywood. Melissa Leo tells reporters this morning that "there's a great deal of the English language in my vernacular". Apparently there is but not much class, manners, or much else.  Well, she made her point to me and I think she's trailer trash. On another "Hollywood related matter", Oscar award winning Natalie Portman (Black Swan) seems to enjoy talking about her being pregnant and all. She talks about it or refers to it in most of her interviews and last night was no exception. It seems to be the underlying theme. The woman has a fiance but hasn't gotten around to getting legally married. In my opinion, this is just another example of "the elite, the special" setting, in my opinion, a poor example for our generation. You look at many of our younger kids...their language, their morals...and you can see now more than ever before, they have NO role models. Stay tuned, tomorrow I'll talk about what a jerk Charlie Sheen is. In my opinion, no one with room temperature IQ would watch his inane television program yet today I reads he wants $3 million an episode because apparently the $1 million plus isn't enough money. Forget his drug and alcohol problems, the man should be locked up for even appearing in this downright terrible television program. Sheen himself, a complete Bozo and another great role model!
