KSEN/k96—Bozeman Trophy Athlete of the Week honors go to Fairfield Sr. Brian Ward for the 2nd time this season.

The Eagles put together an impressive run as they attempted to secure one of only two spots in the State B Tournament, but of course came up just short, losing on a game winning shot by Wolf Point as time ran out.  Thru that 5-game run there were numerous, notable individual performances such as Owen Cartwright’s season high 24 points in the challenge game, Freshman Deron Lear’s defense and combined 32 points against Malta and Rocky Boy, but in the end, we felt like Ward’s consistency in scoring, dishing off the assists, steals and rebounds were the main link to the Fairfield success.

In the Eagles toughest challenge against Malta in the Semi-finals, Ward led the team in scoring with 17 points with a number of those points coming in the 4th qtr. As Fairfield attempted to comeback from more than a 10-pt. deficit.   He also had 5 rebounds and 4 steals in that contest.

In games where the points weren’t needed as much, he still came up with impressive numbers in the other categories including; 10 assists, 12 rebounds and 5 steals in the Poplar and Rocky Boy games on Sat.  Brian was also the Eagles 3rd leading scorer with 11 in the Wolf Point challenge game.

We also had a nomination for Freshman Deron Lear, with those 33 points against Malta and Rocky Boy and also played great defense and made great passes throughout.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athlete of the Week, Sr. Brian Ward of Fairfield.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank. McDonald’s honors our Athlete’s with two free value meals.
